You'll get 'em next season, Champ!

Jeff Walton Gulf Coast barrel sequenceWhat an amazing day of surf to almost miss.  Like many folks, I struggle with convincing myself to get out in the cold and dark morning to have a small chance of catching a few fun waves.  What was I thinking?!  The surf fired today!

Achieving greatness as a surfer on the Gulf Coast is quite the uphill battle.  By now we all know that it can get really good at home…but we can’t argue that it’s tricky to stay in the groove when you gotta wait two or three more weeks (at least) for another solid swell.

The secret as best as I can tell is that “you gotta be on it” when the getting is good…no wait, when there is any chance that the gettin’ might be good.  Dudes like Johnny Green, John Russell, and Sterling Spencer are a proof that a willingness to dedicate any and every opportunity may result is quality surfing.
